February Banking People Moves: Who Stayed, Left and Got Promoted

In the fifth edition of this new monthly feature, we tell you where the notable bankers and c-suite executives moved around in the industry. Here are the moves from February, and keep an eye next month to see who went where in the second month of 2024.

February 2024 had arguably just as much movement than January. While we got wind of Ally’s new CEO last month,  this month we heard Navy Federal Credit Union nabbed a new CEO; Citigroup picked up a key hire from JPMorgan following CEO Jane Fraser’s new workforce overhaul; Huntington nabbed a new chief technology officer and Zions’ president and CEO is stepping down April 1.

Welcome to the fifth edition of Banking People Moves from The Financial Brand, our monthly record of the c-suite executives, marketing VPs and other professionals moving around the industry that should be on your radar — whether they’re arriving from other industries, moving from one institution to another or getting promoted within their own bank or credit union.

What to know about Hammack’s leave: In a LinkedIn Post that garnered over 14,000 likes and over 400 comments, and which included bullet points of the top lessons she learned in her 30+ year tenure at Goldman Sachs, Beth Hammack announced in February she would be stepping down from her role as co-head of the bank’s global financing group.

Hammack had once been considered a top contender to be CFO of the bank in early 2022, reports Banking Dive.

“You will never lose an argument if you focus on doing what’s right for the organization. Not your silo but what is best for the whole. It may take you longer to get where you’re going, but you’ll make a bigger difference and feel great when you get there,” Hammack wrote in her LinkedIn post.

What Hammack said is next for her: “It’s been an incredible journey. I plan to take a break for the next several months, respond more slowly to email, and spend time with my incredible husband and two sons. I’m excited to decide what comes next.”
