The most successful banks on Facebook hail from a dozen different countries around the globe — from North America to the Asia/Pacific region.

Only 20% of the top 100 have amassed a Facebook fan base greater than 100,000 ‘Likes.’ It only takes 4,300 fans to crack into the “Power 100 Bank Facebook Likes” list, which in itself makes a pretty significant statement. Assuming there are roughly 4,500 banks on Facebook, that means that only 2.2% will have over 4K fans.

Facebook growth cannot be taken for granted. You will not add new ‘Likes’ simply for showing up. Nine of the top 100 banks on Facebook experienced negative growth. Some lost only a small percentage of their overall fan base, while others lost larger and more significant chunks.
