  • Pay a Friend. It allows customers to transfer funds to their friends without knowing their bank account details like account number. Through the app, customers can create electronic coupons that can be redeemed by their friends on www.icicibank.com.
  • Split ‘n Share. The app allows customers to split and track group expenses and share them with friends on Facebook. The app also gives the customer the option of sending messages to remind friends on pending payments.
  • Recharge Prepaid Mobile Accounts. “Pockets” lets customers recharge their prepaid mobile account instantly, from Facebook itself.
  • Buy Movie Tickets. Users can now plan for their favourite movie with their Facebook friends and instantly book the tickets using “Pockets.”

Customers can also carry out a wide range of non-financial transactions through the app. They can view a summary of their savings account or a mini-statement for their credit card. Customers can also create recurring savings transfers, order a checkbook, stop a check payment and upgrade their debit card.

Customers can access the app by logging in with their Facebook user ID, then going to ICICI’s Facebook page and clicking on the “Pockets” tab. They have to enter their existing debit card number along with their PIN.

ICICI says “Pockets” has “robust security features,” like 128-bit encryption. For transactions involving the movement of money, there is a unique dynamically generated one-time password that is sent to the customer’s registered mobile number to verify that the transaction is indeed being initiated by the customer.

Interestingly, ICICI did not post an update in its Facebook timeline about the new “Pockets” app. They simply added it to their dashboard.

ICICI Bank currently has around 2.5 million ‘Likes’ on Facebook.
