Great post, Jeffry. Not only a good write up on Caja Navarra, but a good introduction to the Spanish savings banks, which by design give up to 35% of their profits to the community. It's the credit union concept -- on steroids!

BTW, here is a slideshow about Caja Navarra's approach to civic banking, which might be of interest to your readers: http://www.slideshare.net/evroekel/civic-banking-with-caja-navarra-presentation

"Never before has The Financial Brand seen a bank so fully embrace a singular idea as much as CAN."

I could not agree more. This takes phenomenal dedication and execution. When I first saw the main website a few month's ago I was blown away. Now reading the full story, the depth and consistency is truly remarkable. Community banks and credit unions should really study this case closely. A lot can be learned.
