Top 100 Retail Financial Institutions On YouTube

Here are the top 100 banks and credit unions on YouTube ranked by their total number of all-time video views through the second quarter of 2013. If you think your bank or credit union should be listed and it isn’t, click here.

Power 100 Main Menu Info Add Your Institution

power_100_youtube_badgeBanks and credit unions use YouTube primarily share educational content and as a warehouse to store TV commercials. A handful of financial institutions go further, and posting videos made exclusively for YouTube on branded channels.

The Financial Brand partnered with Social Media Explorer to see which financial institutions are yielding the most views (presumably because they have better content). While some banks and credit unions have attracted an audience that matches what they might find on TV or cable (and for considerably less cost), that isn’t often the case.

Only 18 financial institutions in the “Power 100 YouTube” rankings have achieved over 1 million all-time video views. In fact, it takes less than 25,000 views to crack into the top 100… that’s for all banks and credit unions in the English-speaking world. Most dedicated YouTubers should be able to break 25,000 views with just one video.

To yield a ton of YouTube video views, it clearly it helps to have a big, well-established brand. Out of the top 30 financial institutions on YouTube, only one is a credit union: I-C Credit Union (#24) with 637,837 views, and they managed to do that with crazy zombies and talking chins. Only 25% of financial institutions ranked in the “Power 100 YouTube” list are credit unions.
