Bravo on a great article! Credit Unions spend a ton of time in yelling, 'We are different! We are better! Check out a credit union!'. Then when they get the chance to put their name on something, they abbreviate credit union to CU. What is a CU??

I think WTF was funny. Gen-Y would have been all over that. It's an insidery thing. If you know what it is, it's fun. It could have worked.

Thanks for the shout-out Jeffry. I am in complete agreement naturally. Most CUs shortening their names to an acronym do so as a colossal mistake. I can see how these blunders happen. Internally, one has to refer to one's self a lot over the course of a day. So the name gets shortened. And then they start to think that everyone understands it because it's ubiquitous internally. But nothing could be further from the truth. A CU should simply NEVER use its acronym with the outside world.
